A Study of Phenomena and Methods Relating Both to Flows in Small Systems and Large Scale Geophysical Circulations.

Abstract

Research is reported on vortex shedding and instability in rapidly rotating flows, the effects of variable surface tension in immiscible fluids, and the application of numerical methods to the solution of rotating fluid problems. Discussions are also made of nonlinear stability theory, and the computational feasibility of point-vortex descriptions of planar incompressible fluid flow problems.
