Theoretical Studies of Radioactive Debris Attachment to ABM Materials.

Abstract

A computer program which has been developed to simulate the effect of an atom impinging on a solid surface is described. The computer code can accommodate an arbitrary number of different species in the lattice structure as well as an arbitrary number of adsorbed species on the surface of the lattice. Evaluation and selection of optimum potential representations for the atomic interactions are discussed. Results are presented for the predicted trajectories of neutral atoms incident on metallic lattices, for a range of incident particle energies and masses, and for various impact points and angles of impact.
