Decision Making: A Social Informational Interaction Process.
Abstract
The report lists and discusses the research efforts under an ONR contract on analysis of factors contributing to task group effectiveness under various conditions of stress. After a discussion of rationale and background for the research, the research methodologies are detailed. Accomplishments are then discussed under three headings: (1) reviews of the pertinent literature, (2) developments and modifications of methodology and (3) data collection and interpretation of research results. The last of these categories refering to a series of technical reports is again subdivided into reports of research data on (a) perceptions by decision makers, (b) their attributions of causality and responsibility, (c) decision making proper, and (d) social cooperation and aid as it relates to potential group decision making settings. The data were primarily collected in decision making settings associated with a complex experimental simulation under various levels of experimentally induced stress.
