Consumers and Workers Opinions of A Proposed Cash Food System: NAS Alameda

Abstract

Surveys and interviews were conducted with the consumers and workers of the food facility at NAS Alameda, CA, in order to assess attitudes toward the current food system and a proposed system under which all personnel would receive a monetary food allowance and would pay for food in the dining hall on an item-by-item basis. The results indicated a clear preference by the consumer for a monetary food allowance, although attitudes toward the item pricing issue were equivocal.
