More on IMU Self-Alighment Techniques.

Abstract

This report documents the results of a continued study on platform self-alignment techniques conducted at the Guidance and Control Directorate, US Army Missile Research, Development and Engineering Laboratory, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. The study was aimed at exploring the latest techniques in platform self-alignment and at developing new approaches which would enhance the successful application of self-alignment principles to the PERSHING platform alignment problem with its unique accuracy and reaction time requirement. The significant results presented in this report are as follows: (1) A most efficient matrix inversion algorithm specially tailored for the parameter correlated least square regression algorithm, (2) sensitivity simulation of the self-alignment accuracy with respect to data size and data section, (3) the correct choice of an analytic model for least square data processing, and (4) the correct relationship between the way time is counted and the least square regression model.
