Tensile Creep Measurement for Plastics Design Data.

Abstract

The need for the measurement of creep characteristics of engineering polymers is discussed and the most important considerations of creep characterisation presented. The development of specific creep equipment and light-weight extensometry is described. The development and operation of creep testing equipment are described and the means by which the results may be most suitably presented are discussed in detail. Examples of the creep curves and isochronous stress-strain curves obtained for two forms of glass filled polystyrene are given.
