West European Perceptions of NATO.

Abstract

The study assesses West European perceptions concerning the utility of the NATO Alliance by reviewing the statements and positions of European political and military leaders, opinion polls, and other pertinent sources. Emphasis is placed on documenting perceptions of military, political and economic threats to the Alliance, views on alternatives to NATO, and on the role of U.S. forces.
