Fatigue Properties of K01 Cast Aluminum,

Abstract

Fatigue specimens of K01 aluminum T-6 heat treat condition, K01 aluminum T-7 heat treat condition, and 357 aluminum were fatigue load cycled to failure at two stress ratios, R = .20 and R =1.0. All specimens were notched for a stress concentration of 3.0. The K01 aluminum T-6 heat treat condition material has the best fatigue properties of the materials tested. The majority of T-6 specimens sustained 10 to the 7th power cycles at 7000 pounds per square inch maximum stress for R = .20 and 3000 pounds per square inch maximum stress for R = -1.0. (Author)
