Electronic Solid State Wide Angle Camera

Abstract

The objective of this program was to develop a breadboard system to demonstrate the feasibility of a new class of reconnaissance camera, namely, a high resolution, low distortion, ultra-wide angle electronic image sensor matched to the silicon optical response spectrum and having no moving parts. To achieve this objective a prototype lens was developed in parallel with a technique for optically butting linear Charge Coupled Devices (CCD). A breadboard scanner/display was fabricated which served to demonstrate the achievement of the objective. Separate lens test results are included in the report.
