Disease Information System. Techniques for Map Generation by Computer.

Abstract

This interim report discusses the problem of map generation in the overall task of creating maps by computer. Within the broad problem of map generation are several considerations that concern the input, retrieval and subsequent application of stored data. These are reviewed in general terms and one retrieval difficulty is resolved by a PL/1 program which is an addition to the FAMULUS retrieval system. The need for further improvements in the retrieval system is discussed. Several problems that surround the handling of various kinds of map projections are also considered. (Author)
