The Motion of Ellipsoidal Particles in a Viscous Shear Flow. I. The First-Order Solutions.

Abstract

The slow gyration of an ellipsoid in a shear flow is studied by a singular perturbation method. The aim of the investigation is to examine the nonlinear effect of the fluid on the orbit of gyration. The small parameter used in the analysis is the shear Reynolds number.
