Off-Line Orthographic Printer Editing Software.

Abstract

This report illustrates an extension to the concept of off-line orthophoto generation by offering a higher quality product, a simpler control computer design and a more versatile means of terrain and image related data manipulation. To accomplish these features the present orthoprinter control programs were functionally separated such that the control computer was responsible for image generation only. The aspects of terrain data editing and orthoprinter coordinate derivation were derived off-line. A PDP 11/45 program reads the standard AS-11B-1 terrain data tape, performs terrain data manipulation, image positioning and correction under operator control, and writes a new error-free magnetic tape for use on the Off-Line Orthographic Printer (OOP). In the second step, the OOP control computer reads the command data on magnetic tape and uses it to print high quality photographic imagery commensurate with the previous standards.
