Holographic Horizontal Situation Display Extension.

Abstract

This report describes the extension of the development of the techniques required to allow the construction of a Holographic Horizontal Situation Display (HHSD) having the performance characteristics and configuration required by high performance aircraft. The HHSD system is designed to allow presentation of multicolor moving map information, and dynamically generated alpha-numeric and graphical annotation data through a common viewing aperture and in registration. The HHSD concept had been developed under a series of IR and D and Navy sponsored contract programs. The effort on behalf of the Navy has been in support of the AIMIS program (Advanced Integrated Modular Instrumentation System) of which a multicolor moving map display integrated with a system capable of presenting conventional Horizontal Situation Display, HSD, is an important element.
