On-Line Vehicle Maintenance Data Management: Model System Specification and Test Results

Abstract

The Vehicle Integrated Management System (VIMS) is a base-level management system that processes data related to vehicle maintenance. This report presented some perceived strengths and weaknesses of VIMS and suggested a number of near term improvements such as the clarification of output reports through reformatting. The primary conclusion was that vehicle maintenance operations and management could benefit from on-line access to VIMS through terminals located in certain key work centers.
