Experimental RF Field Polarization Meter.

Abstract

An experimental antenna-receiving system was designed to measure the ratio of vertically to horizontally polarized electromagnetic fields transmitted by VOR/ILS facilities. This field ratio is particularly important because course bearing errors can be caused by modulation carried by some components of the vertically polarized field from VOR facilities. This report describes the development and testing of a field polarization meter, called a Polariscope by the FAA, to be used for measuring this field ratio. (Author)
