Materials Research for Superconducting Machinery-IV
Abstract
The fourth semi-annual technical reports are collected from five subcontractors of an ARPA sponsored program on the very low temperature properties of structural materials to support the development of superconducting machinery. Low temperature data are presented for the elastic, tensile, fatigue and fracture properties, thermal expansion, specific heat, thermal and magnetothermal conductivity, electrical and magnetic properties of structural alloys. Effects of processing and fabrication are also reported for many of the properties; weld and braze joint properties are included. Tensile and compressive data at 4 K of selected composites are presented.
