Design and Development of an Advanced Electron Beam Control System.

Abstract

The prime objective of this program was to expand the overall capabilities of an Electron Beam Recorder Micromap Control System. This was achieved through the development of three software packages, and the procurement of additional hardware to improve the present control system and provide a base for a more self-contained system. Three tasks which are fundamental to a micromap system, namely Font Tape Generation, Character Editing, and Text Tape generation, can now be performed on the existing system. This eliminates the need to use larger off-line computers to perform these basic functions. This report describes the existing EBR Micromap Control System including both newly-purchased hardware and a detailed description of the three software packages developed under this program.
