A Fractographic Analysis of Flaw Growth in a High Strength Titanium Alloy.

Abstract

A summary of the fractographic analysis of a high strength titanium alloy is presented. Results are presented for laboratory specimens produced under carefully controlled conditions and also for service induced failures. A correlation between fracture surface appearance (thus failure mechanism) and wave form and environment is observed and discussed. (Author)
