Cuba, Accommodation or Confrontation, a Course for the United States.

Abstract

The question is whether or not the accommodation of Cuba is in the best interests of the United States. This essay reviews what has happened to Cuba since the missile crisis and the US/USSR interests are compared. Data was gathered by literary research; discussion with students, lecturers, and travelers to Cuba; and recent interviews and statements by senior US officials. Finally, an analysis of the directions and cost for current and future US policy is discussed, with a recommendation that we accommodate with Cuba if the relationship between the Latin American States and the United States can be improved.
