Development of Miniature Digital Telemetry System.

Abstract

The paper describes the design improvements and packaging of a miniature multi-channel digital telemetry system for use in remote controlled aircraft experiments coordinated by the Aeronautical Engineering Department at the Naval Postgraduate School. The avionics package, comprised of data encoder, transmitter, power supply, and pod-mounted sensor package, is small and lightweight; has low current requirement; and can transmit up to nine channels of data. The system has been modified to accept either potentiometric or voltage-output transducers. The ground receiving station provides an analog voltage output for each data channel that is linearly dependent on the airborne sensor output. This thesis emphasizes the modifications made to the existing system to provide more versatility, greater dependability and ease of operation.
