Analytic Equation of State for Sea Water

Abstract

Earlier work by Fisher and Dial on pure water and sea water showed the effectiveness of the Tumlirz equation, in representing the precision pure water data of Kell and Whalley from 0 to 150 degrees up to 1000 bars. In addition it was also shown that a modified Tumlirz equation could be used to represent the sea water data of Wilson and Bradley. In this paper the thermal expansion data of Bradshaw and Schleicher and the sound velocity data of Wilson have been incorporated to yield a new equation of state for sea water.
