Static FORTRAN Analyzer.

Abstract

The National Bureau of Standards (NBS) Static FORTRAN Analyzer (SFA), which samples FORTRAN programs and collects statistics on the utilization of predetermined FORTRAN syntactic constructs, was adapted to operate under the FORTRAN-Y compiler of RADC's HIS-635 GCOS operating system. The conversion process and subsequent analysis of 258 sample programs, consisting of approcimately 22,000 lines of source code, are provided. The statistical results of this effort may directly support the activities of FORTRAN language study and standardization efforts which address language and compiler design, optimization, and subsetting.
