On the Stabilization of Linear Systems.

Abstract

The stabilization of linear continuous systems is studied using an algebraic approach. Two classes of linear continuous systems are investigated: a certain class of time-varying systems, and time-invariant systems with time delays in the state and control. In each case a necessary and sufficient condition for stabilizing the specific class of linear continuous systems is presented. The results developed here can be specialized to give a necessary and sufficient condition for stabilizing time-invariant systems.
