Improved Radar Range-Gated MTI Processor.

Abstract

A redesigned timing circuit and improved bandpass filters were constructed and integrated with MTI range-gate-and-filter modification kit for the Naval Postgraduate School AN/UPS-1D radar. Principle improvements allow operation in a jittered PRF mode and increased effectiveness of channel filters through the use of active fifth-order Butterworth analog filters. The design objectives were to achieve the elimination of blind speeds, improved frequency response of the channel filters and the reduction of the MTI minimum discernable signal.
