Non-Hazardous Lithium Organic Electrolyte Batteries.

Abstract

The purpose of this program is to design, test, and fabricate a high performance, low cost primary lithium-organic electrolyte battery capable of safe operation under any conditions of storage, use and disposal. In order to demonstrate compliance with these goals, PCI constructed and tested cells and batteries which incorporate a unique fail-safe design, developed for commercial applications. This design was found to operate reliably, rendering cells and batteries safe under all test conditions covered under Technical Guidelines for Non-Hazardous Primary Lithium-Organic Electrolyte Batteries dated 29 March 1973.
