Duane's Reliability Growth Model as a Nonhomogeneous Poisson Process.

Abstract

A model of Duane's cumulative-failure-rate is presented that interprets the counting process N(t) as a Nonhomogeneous Poisson Process (NHPP) having a mean-value function. The objective in this paper is to present rigorous derivations of the procedures for estimating parameters, forecasting failure rates, and testing hypotheses for the NHPP model of the occurrence of failures.
