Three-Dimensional Acoustic Analysis of Solid Rocket Motor Cavities.

Abstract

The basis for a three-dimensional finite element acoustic analysis computer code to be used on the combustion instability analysis of solid rocket motor cavities is formulated. The analogy between the development of the structural element and the fluid element and utilization of structural codes for fluid dynamics analyses is demonstrated. The employment of the concept of dihedral symmetry and the coupling of the behavior of fluid and structural elements are important features of the formulation.
