Ecological Assessment of Vandenberg Air Force Base.

Abstract

The report summarizes results and conclusions of a survey of terrestrial environmental conditions at Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. The objectives of the study were (1) To provide basic data for Environmental Impact Statement on the ground support operations for the Space Transportation System (STS) now being planned for Vandenberg AFB; (2) to document the ecological baseline conditions of the base and provide recommendations for conservation and multiple-use management; and (3) to provide a quantitative data base and program structure for a computer-based Environmental Planning System for Vandenberg AFB.
