Prediction of Operator Workstation Performance.

Abstract

Analyses of videotaped performance on simulation task control/display panels were conducted to develop computer algorithms for predicting performance time and reliability. These algorithms were incorporated into a program for use in batch and time share computer systems. Time predictions were based on algorithms for the separate time elements of control activations, hand transfers between controls, display performance, eye transfers between displays, and think/search/idle. Performance reliability predictions were based on algorithms for the separate reliability elements of control/display usage and performance of task network links between controls and/or displays. Two experiments were conducted to investigate operator performance reliability on multifunction keyboard tasks.
