Historical Inflation Program.

Abstract

This report extends, revises, and summarizes previous efforts to develop the necessary rationale and methodology necessary to construct historical inflation indices relative to Army aircraft. In addition, a computerized Historical Inflation Program is presented and described. The program can be updated monthly, is easily revised for changes in Bureau of Labor Statistics methods, and capable of handling data through the transition year, FY 7T. Output is expressed as monthly, quarterly, calendar year inflation indices (in Calendar Year 1967 base) and inflation factors (in any Fiscal Year base). These indices and factors provide a means of accurately adjusting historical cost data to constant year dollars. (Author)
