On Particular Solutions of the Oseen Flow Equations.

Abstract

Particular solutions of the equations for the vorticity for both two-dimensional and axi-symmetrical Oseen flow are derived. They are then utilized for the solutions of the differential equations for the stream functions for the flow past a parabolic cylinder in two-dimensional flow and for the flow past a paraboloid of revolution in axi-symmetrical flow. By contrast, the present author showed in earlier papers that these two viscous-flow boundary-value problems can be formulated exactly as pairs of integral equations for unknown distributions of potential sinks-sources and their counterparts in Oseen flow, Oseenlets. Thus, the present treatment of these two problems avoids the difficulties inherent in the solution of pairs of integral equations. (Author)
