Digital Modem Study.
Abstract
The report describes the results of Phase 1 of a two-phased program to demonstrate the technical feasibility of using a completely digital implementation for a modulator/demodulator (modem) and associated coder/decoder (codec). The subjects covered in the report consist of: design requirements; concept design; analysis and test results of a critical subsystems breadboard; and a description of a resulting design plan including initial estimates of cost, reliability and maintainability. In addition, functional designs for selected options with initial cost estimates are covered.
