Stratospheric Trace Gas Measurements.

Abstract

Investigations were conducted to study the feasibility of extending the high altitude balloon solar extinction measurements that were previously developed under ONR sponsorship into the infrared region of the spectrum to allow for the study of stratospheric trace gases. Topics discussed include the stratospheric aerosols, radiation balance of Earth, gases concerned with ozone, the pointing system, the detector system, and the telemetery system.
