A New Vibration Data Analysis System.

Abstract

A new vibration data analysis system for processing accelerometer power spectral density (PSD) data computed on an existing spectral analysis facility has been developed and incorporated into the shock and vibration laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering Division, U.S. Army Electronics Command. The new data processing system is based on a programmable calculator and suitable peripheral equipments. PSD functions computed on a multi-channel, narrow band, swept frequency, spectral analyzer are scanned, digitized, and punched on paper tape for later processing on the programmable calculator system. User developed software provides for the computation of new PSD functions, acceleration, and double amplitude displacement curves. The computed functions are displayed on a digital X-Y plotter. Hardware and software implementation of the new instrumentation system are described.
