Functional Equation in the Plasma Inverse Problem and Solutions.

Abstract

The one-dimensional problem of determining the density distribution of a plasma from its reflection of electromagnetic waves can be solved by the Gel'fand-Levitan technique. An extension and simplification of this technique has been proposed, and methods of solving the resulting functional equation were evaluated. The mathematical properties of the reflection coefficient were considered, related to the density distribution.
