Electrochemical Techniques for Reducing Enzyme Alarm Interferences.

Abstract

Work was directed to improvement of the existing electrochemical enzyme alarm system. The interference caused by SO2, H2S, Cl2 and other gases was studied. An alternative electrochemical mode of operation has had preliminary tests. SO2 interference is serious; no corrective action is yet reported. H2S interference may be amenable. Cl2 would have to be removed before entering the cell. CO should cause no interference. No better electrodes are reported than the present platinum electrodes. At present differential voltammetry is being studied to overcome interference by gases mentioned above. (Author)
