Staple- and Nail-Assembled Pallets Under Impact Loading.

Abstract

The report discusses the behavior of nailed and stapled reusable oak pallets when impacted by a forklift truck, with and without an impact panel, at approximately two miles per hour. The 48- by 40-inch, partial four-way-entry pallets, fabricated by the U.S. Forest Products Laboratory from locally grown green red oak lumber, were loaded with either 750 or 3,000 pounds.
