Expectancy Theory, Decision Theory and Occupational Preference and Choice

Abstract

Expectancy Theory and Decision Theory research predicting occupational preference and choice is reviewed. The results provide strong support for both approaches. Applications of Decision Theory models to problems of occupational selection are also discussed. A summary perspective suggests that both theories can provide practical insights for occupational guidance and counseling.
