Two Finite Queues in Tandem with Pure Delay and Overflow.

Abstract

Two single server queues with finite capacities are arranged in tandem. The arrival process to the first server is a Poisson stream with rate lambda. The respective service times in the two servers are mutually independent, negative exponential distributed random variables, independent of the arrival process, with rates (Mu sub 1) and (Mu sub 2) respectively. The queue is assumed to be of first-come, first-served discipline. Both the pure delay (BCD) and the overflow (BCO) models are considered. The steady state solution is given.
