Electrical Characteristics of Dry Rock-Forming Minerals.

Abstract

New DC conductivity versus temperature data on sample of olivine, proxene, and feldspar in an atmosphere controlled by the quartz-fayalite-magnetite buffer are presented. AC data on one of the olivine samples are used to show directly that radio frequency sounding experiments in a lithospheric waveguide bounded above by conducting wet rocks and below by conducting hot rocks are a plausible possibility.
