Feedback Queues in the Modelling of Computer Systems: A Survey.

Abstract

This paper is a survey of feedback queueing models developed for modelling computer systems. In particular, round-robin and foreground-background time-sharing models, as well as some related feedback models, are presented with the main assumptions of these models and main results summarized in tables. The derivations and the mathematical expression of the results can be found in the cited references. The recent, related work in computer modelling using queueing networks and diffusion approximation and other approximate methods is also surveyed.
