Development of an Automated Layup System for Monofilament Fiber Structures.

Abstract

The ATLAS program was a multiphase program to advance manufacturing technology and fabrication processes for advanced composite materials. Phases I and II covered the development of laying up flat and curved panels. Phase III was for the design of the ATLAS machine. Phase IV covered the fabrication of the report ATLAS. An Phase V was the installation and qualification of ATLAS. This report documents the accomplishments of Phase V with its culmination being a demonstration of the ATLAS producing composite components. (Author)
