Time/Frequency Collision Avoidance System Equipment. Phase I. Development Model Ground Station and Associated Airborne Feasibility Models.

Abstract

The report summarizes the work accomplished by McDonnell Douglas Electronics Company (MDEC) under contract with the FAA for Phase I development of Time/Frequency Collision Avoidance System (CAS) items. The procurement was for equipment, analysis, documentation and for services performed at the National Aviation Facilities Experimental Center (NAFEC). Work performed at MDEC is described and includes: system analysis, design and development, fabrication and assembly, integration and test, and documentation. Activities at NAFEC are also described and include: field training, preliminary functional tests, installation, and field acceptance test. Equipment delivered to NAFEC is described and includes: a dual channel ground station, airborne fly-by synchronization equipment, and feasibility models of airborne CAS units for both air carrier and general aviation.
