Spectroscopic and Magnetic Studies of a Mixed-Valence Iron Fluoride, Fe2F5.7H2O.

Abstract

The mixed-valence iron fluoride, Fe2F5.7H2O, has been investigated by a variety of techniques including Mossbauer and electronic spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibilities. The material is found to be a Class I mixed-valence complex, and is shown to contain discrete Fe(H2O)6(++) and FeF5(H2O)(--) ions. (Author)
