Abstract

The War Powers Resolution of November 7, 1973, placed certain limitations on the president as to the commitment of U.S. troops abroad. This major legislation is examined in light of the constitutional separation of powers between the legislative and executive branch of government and its impact on the executive. This essay contains an examination of the historical constitutional cases and the constitutional convention discussions on the separation of powers to 'make war.' (Author)
