Experimental Test of Some Statistical Technique for Active Acoustic Target Detection and Classification,

Abstract

Two statistical lines of approach are developed for the problem of active acoustic target detection and discrimination in the presence of reverberation. They are (a) comparisons of the statistical properties of the zeros of reflected waveforms and (b) spectral comparisons of transmitted and reflected waveforms for various target and bottom configurations.
