Analysis and Experiment on an Electrical to Fluidic Interface with no Moving Parts.

Abstract

This report contains the results of experimental performance evaluation on an electrical to fluidic interface device with no moving parts. Scale factors, frequency response, null shift, power consumption, linearity, and signal-to-noise ratio were measured before and after a 10,000 'g' gun firing. It was concluded that the device has too low a frequency response for most control applications, and had an unacceptable null shift after the gun firing. The reason for the shift could not be determined because disassembly would destroy the device. A simplified analysis was performed to determine wire burnout tendency, heat transfer rates, and wire transient response. Expressions were derived which would enable tradeoff design studies to be performed for device improvement. (Author)
