Development of a Prototype Diagnostic Test for the TEC Program.

Abstract

This report attacks the problem inherent in the TEC program of devising a means of assigning only lessons that are clearly necessary to avoid redundant training to already competent individuals. The approach used was to determine the feasibility of using diagnostic pretests to determine an individual's capabilities, thus permitting the exemption of an individual from unnecessary training. Divided roughly into four sections, the report outlines general procedures for the development of diagnostic tests; illustrates procedures used in developing a prototype test; discusses field test data and revision of the diagnostic test; and, finally, presents tentative conclusions and suggests research activities to increase future effectiveness of diagnostic tests.
