Applying Systems Analysis to the Fire Service,

Abstract

Fire department managers, confronted with new and greater demands for fire service and fire protection, need new tools to help them make the most effective use of their fire-fighting resources. Increasingly they are turning to the techniques of systems analysis. Systems analysis provides an organized step-by-step approach to studying large systems, such as the system of municipal fire department operations, that contain many interacting elements and in which it is very difficult to determine the consequences of a change in policy.
