On the Spectrum Analysis of Binary Data.

Abstract

Characteristics of the spectra of binary data are investigated by use of a two-state, linear, first-order Markov model for the data. Examples of binary data are: rain-no rain, fog-no fog, clear-cloudy, sunlight-no sunlight, etc. Some statistical properties of the sample autocovariances and spectral densities of such data are presented and compared with corresponding empirical results.
